From the bunch
How red palm oil is made
Cut when ripe
Bunches are cut when the fruit turns red and a few loose fruits fall.
Boiled and pounded
The fruit is boiled soft, then pounded to free the oil from the fibre.
Two days still
The pressed oil rests so the water and fibre sink.
Bottled and labelled
Filtered into clean bottles, kegs and jerrycans, each with a batch label.
