Unrefined shea, set by hand and sold by women's cooperatives. We sieve it and use it as it is.

From Ondo State

Cocoa butter pressed from the beans, with the smell of chocolate left in.

From the hives

Beeswax gives our balms and lip tins their firm set.

How we make it

One batch, one afternoon

Small batches mean every jar is fresh and every label is written by hand.

  1. Melt

Butters are melted slowly over water, never boiled.

  2. Cool and whip

Cooled until just set, then whipped until light.

  3. Pour or spoon

Balms are poured into tins; butters are spooned into jars.

  4. Label

Each label lists every ingredient and the batch date.

Questions

What is in it?

Every ingredient is printed on the label, in order of how much is in the jar.

How long does it keep?

Twelve months unopened. Keep it out of the sun; shea softens in the heat.

Why is my butter grainy?

Shea can form small grains if it melts and sets again. They melt as soon as they touch your hands.

Is it a medicine?

No. These are cosmetic products for everyday use. If you have allergies, check the label and try a little on your inner arm first.
