The loc journey
What happens to your hair, stage by stage
Coils and twists
For the first months the hair holds the shape it was set in. Wash gently with a stocking cap on, and do not panic about frizz.
The knots begin
Inside each coil the hair starts to knot. Locs may look messy; this is the hair doing its work.
Puffy and shorter
Locs swell and shrink. Retwist less and let them form.
Dropped and heavy
Locs hang and gain length. Keep them clean, dry them fully and oil lightly.
